fashion friday: been sick edition

I was sick this week – always super fun, since we all know that moms do not get sick days. At last my husband wasn’t traveling, so I wasn’t on my own! But I spent most of my week in yoga pants, in outfits kind of like this, only not as stylish and matching.

yoga/comfy outfits

But meanwhile, I found a few little gems on my fashion blog this week!

I love this dress by H&M!! How cute is this?

This purse is at the top of my Christmas list. So if you’re reading this and plan on getting me a present, HINT HINT!

And HELLO! I think I must get me some boot socks. How lovely!

And meet my new favorite sweater coat:

That’s all for this week, folks! Check back next week when my decongestant-laden brain can think again!

fashion friday: fall style at bloomies

Last night, Jo-Lynne and I hosted a little girls night out with our fashion blog, All Things Chic, and Bloomingdales. It was a fabulous evening of pink cocktails, lively conversation and peeking at all the latest and greatest fashion trends – all with 15% of purchases going to benefit breast cancer. So, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite pieces at Bloomies right now!

Oh, this DKNY cocktail dress is GORGEOUS! And marked down to $102! This would be perfect for the holidays!
The Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress is a total classic. And this Julian Silk Jersey Wrap Dress (Orig $325.00, then it was $227.50) Well now its down to $136.50 – this is an investment piece, ladies!!

Wow. Just wow. Love this sweater.

Studded leather bracelets are so on trend right now – and so on sale!

Thinking ahead to summer, they have Miraclebody cropped jeans on sale for $26! Miraclebody has slimming panels, so they’re a little pricer, but totally worth it! (These were originally $64!)

I think I need to pick up a few of these Moleskine Notebooks for my gift stash! These are perfect graduation, teacher or whoever gifts and for only $9, I can stock up!

fashion friday: chic casual from lands end canvas

I can not even narrow down what I would buy on Lands End Canvas right now. Their fall line is just fabulous. Perfect fall casual, classic Lands End with a modern twist.

These dresses are fall perfection:

Lands End Canvas Dresses

But, I am loving the casual chic that Lands End Canvas is known for. I would wear each and every one of these outfits (Well, except that beret. Sadly, I look ridiculous in hats.) They’re casual yet chic, simple yet stylish!

Are you a Lands End Canvas fan, too?

fashion friday: winter coats

Coats are hitting the stores and I love it. A great coat is a key element in your wardrobe – and can last for years. A good, classic coat is a fool-proof investment piece, but don’t away from a cheaper coat to add  some fun to your wardrobe!!

You can never, ever go wrong in a classic, double breasted peacoat in Black, Navy, Red, Gray or Camel. Invest in this one. You’ll wear it for years and years.

But don’t be afraid of a little embellishment, like a belt, ruffle or fur collar! Look at all the different looks you can get just in gray peacoats. Its ridiculous!!

Gray Coats

And coats are an amazing way to add some color to a dull winter day! Could you even be in a bad mood while slipping into a bright yellow coat??

You can go totally glam… with leopard print!

evening with elnett

Last night, I had a few friends over to join me in an Evening with Elnett.

Elnett Satin Hairspray is a fabulous and uber-luxurious line of hairsprays from L’Oréal that has been around for almost 40 years, but is just now available in retail outlets across the US. While it is a favorite of models, celebs and top stylists around the world, it is perfect for busy moms as well!
Elnett offers long lasting hold that disappears at the touch of a brush, leaving hair clean and shiny with a satin touch. Hair stylists love it for fashion shows and photo shoots where models are wearing multiple hair styles. Which is just perfect for us busy moms!  I can use Elnett in the morning, throw my hair up on a trip to the gym and then brush it out later for date night – so much nicer than layering on products all day that leave my hair dull and crunchy.

We had a fabulous fall spread:

evening with elnett

yummy!!

We had a hair station set up with flat irons, curling irons, hair do-dads and some Elnett products: Strong Hold, Extra Strong Hold and Extra Strong Hold with UV Filter. Yes, you read that right. Hairspray with UV filter to protect color treated hair! Amazing!! You can protect your color by using a product you’re probably using anyway.

We all tried out the hairsprays and had passionate, in-depth conversations about hair that only a group of girlfriends can have.

My personal favorite stylist, Gracie, was on hand to style my hair. Isn’t it cute?

We also got to view some fantastic tutorials by Johnny Lavoy, a consulting hair expert for L’Oréal. My favorite was his tutorial on defined waves – so gorgeous and it looks so easy! My daughter saw it and squealed “Its Taylor Swift’s hair!! I WANT IT!” I can’t wait to try it on her!

Thanks so much to L’Oréal and Mom Central for sponsoring this event and introducing us to Elnett!! To keep up with all the latest from L’Oréal, you can follow them on facebook and twitter. And check out my review of Elnett on my fashion blog, All Things Chic!

disclosure: I was compensated for refreshments and supplies for hosting this event, as well as receiving compensation for my time. as always, all opinions are my own.

fashion friday: mom bags that don’t look like it

I got a request last week from Megan: “Can you do a post on fall purses? My criteria are: not black, big enough to throw two diapers in, sturdy and the outside has to be wipeable (think leather and not suede)…”

She said “Purses” so I’m in! There are about a zillion good options, so lets narrow it down to just a few. Here they are from cheaper ones to the most expensive.

The Kim by Big Buddha is on Piperlime. Love the grey, love the structure, love the shoulder strap…

Um, YUMMY! Again, this Melie Bianso Ariana bag is so totally on trend that no one will notice the diapers you have stashed inside!!

Loving this color – and hobo bags are huge 😉 Wouldn’t this look great with a charcoal gray peacoat? Or a trench?

If you don’t want boring black, Orla Kiely is perfect! Does this bag just scream “fall”???

This is gorgeous. The Extra Mile bag from Hobo International is divine. And speaking of divine…
You can never go wrong with Kate Spade.

fashion friday: target chic

With all the hoop-la about Target this week with the Missoni launch, I was reminded how much I LOVE that store. You really can get awesome style for super affordable prices!! Check out my looks for fall:

I adore fall dresses. And Target has amazing ones!!! This is a total fantasy outfit, since there is no way I can wear mustard and not look like I’m ill. Sometimes life is really unfair.

And sweater dresses!!! I LOVE SWEATER DRESSES!!!

And I am so buying this cape. It is only $25. For real.

If I worked in an actual office (as opposed to the desk in my bedroom) where I wasn’t allowed to wear jeans (or, lets be real, yoga pants), I would wear something like this little number. And, by the way, cute blouse, pencil skirt, heels and cute accessories? This is SO my sister.

What is your favorite fall find from Target? Did you score any Missoni items? If you did, can you send them to me?

fashion friday: fall fashion trends

Last night, Jo-Lynne and I hosted a fabulous fashion show at Neiman Marcus for Fashion Night Out. One of the huge perks of having a fashion blog.   We went in last week and pulled outfits for the show.

sidebar: Just picture it. Close your eyes for a second. You’re turned loose in Neiman Marcus to pick out whatever outfits you want. INCLUDING SHOES. Can you just see it? Can you just see me and Jo-Lynne doing this? Yeah, it was pretty hysterical.

Anyway, here are a few of my favorite trends and how to wear them!

I LOVE tweed jackets (Fall Trend #1). So chic. So classic. And it is possible to wear them without looking like you are having tea and crumpets with your grandma and her friends at the DAR. (Bonus points if you get the TV show reference….) Pair with wide leg trousers (Fall Trend #2) and oxford pumps (Fall Trend #3). Bonus points for a structured bag (Fall Trend #4)!

simple, classic, tweed

Next, I am in LOVE with Bordeaux (Fall Trend #5) and tie-neck blouses (Fall Trend #6). Pair them with flare jeans (Fall Trend #7) and Platform Heels (Fall Trend #8) and you’ll look FAB! Add some bold gold jewelry (Fall Trend #9) and throw on a cape (Fall Trend #10) and you are styling!

tie neck blouse + flares + cape = FALL

What’s your favorite trend??
