fashion friday: disney bound

Next week, I’m heading to Orlando for the Disney Social Media Moms conference. Much to the dismay of my poor, neglected children who will not be coming with me. We keep having conversations like: “So you’re going to ride Space Mountain….. without me?” (insert tear-filled Bambi eyes here) And me assuring them that I will be working  most of the time and not having lots of time to go on rides. *Ahem.*

But here is the challenge: how does one look cute at Disney?

First: find come cute shoes that are actually comfortable. I love my Privos! They are so so comfy and look great with everything – even shorts. I hate wearing sneakers with shorts.  These are on sale for only $40!

Second: stay cool and comfy. Maybe a nice flowy top and capris or shorts. Perfect for the parks – staying cool but still stylish!

tops: anthropologie | bottoms: old navy

And don’t rule out a dress! I love wearing maxi dresses to parks. They’re so cool and comfy – I wear them with my super comfy Reef flip flips. Steer clear of shorter dresses – you don’t want to have any un-family-friendly moments climbing in and out of rides, now!

best of beauty :: dry shampoo

I was recently quoted in a Parenting.com article about how much I adore dry shampoo.

If you’ve never tried it, you really must. It is a busy mom’s best friend! Just spray on, let it absorb for a bit and brush it out.  Its sooo easy and is a lifesaver when you need to look good, but don’t have time for a shower and blowdry. My favorite is Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo. For my smooth, straight hair, this is simply the best! (Curly girls may argue 😉  I prefer Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion to other dry shampoos I have tried – I had much better results with this one. Maybe its the “Keralock™  Technology” that contains keratin and absorbs oils? Whatever it is, this product has something different. This product costs about $1 more than Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo, and I think it is worth the extra dollar!

Its so easy to use – watch my tutorial I did for my fashion blog and see for yourself!

what i wore

On Wednesday, I was at my mom’s house. Kept it simple and comfy! I paired my favorite red jeans with a comfy tee and cardigan. I think it looks great with the Ella Vicker’s Tote, right?

Saturday we headed to Valley Forge Park to hike around and see the historical sights. I kept it comfy with jeans and sneakers and had to bundle up in my ruffled pea coat.

Easter Sunday was unexpectedly gorgeous! I celebrated by wearing my new lace pencil skirt I picked up at the LOFT outlet and a ruffled blouse with python heels.
Please notice how awesome my new doormat is. Isn’t it CUTE?!!?

Tuesday we headed into Philly for some sightseeing! Here I am outside Independence Hall in my flare jeans and sneakers (again) and striped shirt and cape. Perfect for keeping off the chill when the wind blew!

fashion friday: spring break!

We’re on spring break this week. We’re in Ohio, which is actually pretty darn far from a beach, but we’re having fun nonetheless.

Lets pretend I went somewhere exotic and got to lay on a beach sipping a margarita. Wearing this:

HOW cute would that be with my coral swimsuit? I KNOW!

Since I’m imaging this vacation, I can imagine that I can afford this dress. this would be perfect for sightseeing around my imaginary exotic location.

and this one, too. i would wear this on my imaginary dinner date on my imaginary vacation.

Oh. My. Goodness. LOVE THIS! I would wear this on my imaginary plane ride to my imaginary destination with white jeans.

And here are my imaginary shoes. Hello, gorgeous.
Sigh. If only my imaginary vacation could be real. (And my imaginary clothing budget!)

Happy Spring Break!

I wore this on Wednesday just running errands around town. How cute is my Lolly scarf? (We’re giving one away on my fashion blog – go enter!)

tank: j crew, bought on consignment {similar}
scarf: lolly {buy here}
jeans: citizens for all mankind flare {buy here}

Thursday, it was a little chilly, so I wore my cozy new sweater by Free People, picked up at T.J. Maxx for more than $100 off the original price. (Score!) The tank if from there too!

tank: free people {similar here}
jeans: the skinny by 7 for All Mankind {buy here}
boots: ellie bootie by matisse {buy here}

On Friday, I decided to mix brights! I’m not a ‘mixing brights’ girl. I’m more of an ‘add a splash of color to my black’ kinds girl. So this was a step for me. My husband wanted me to show the lining of the coat, because it was the “coolest part of the coat.”

coat: boden {from boden warehouse sale}
blouse: loft {buy here}
jeans: red rockstar jegging from Old Navy {buy here}
shoes: target {buy it here}
necklace: banana republic outlet {only $3!}
Isn’t it cute? I can’t resist the price!

best of beauty | laura mercier eyeliner

This vlog is old – but for two years, I have been an absolute devotee of this eyeliner. Its called Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliner and it is the best! I’ve never been able to apply eyeliner well until this.

It is so so easy – to create a tightline, use the Flat Eye Liner Brush and dip the brush into clean water, then work the Tightline Cake Eye Liner into a thick paste. Apply the Tightline Cake Eye Liner underneath the root of the upper lash line by wiggling the brush between individual lashes. If you want a more dramatic line, just reapply to make a thicker line.

the perils of fashion blogging

My husband came in as I was writing a post for All Things Chic {we’re giving away a gorgeous hand-dyed silk pashmina scarf! Go enter!!}

And he’s like, “What are you putting a picture of your boob on the internet?”

And I’m like, “Its not of my boob! Its of my scarf!”

And he’s like, “If you say so!”

That is TOTALLY a picture of my scarf.
