therapon face to face

Saturday, I was pampered into a little puddle of Melissa by Therapon!

Jo-Lynne hosted a lovely little spa morning with Therapon skin care at a local hotel. It was fabulous. We had manicures, mimosas, mini-facials by Therapon and makeup by Ulta!

My facial was divine. I love the NuPeel Natural Enzyme Peel – instead of using ebrasives, NuPeel relies upon natural enzymes to gently loosen dead skin cells, evening skin tone and allowing make-up to go on smoother. My skin felt amazing after she used it! Then I headed over to get my makeup done my the girls from Ulta. They did an amazing job!

Jo-Lynne took a great picture of me tweeting that shows you how pretty and springy my nails are!

It was such a lovely time of relaxing and chatting with friends.

Thanks Therapon and Jo-Lynne for a wonderful morning! Can we have more events like this please? Maybe every week?

Linking up with the Best of Beauty linky!

you are loved

This past month has been big for my Ellie. She turned 9. Then she got her own room. We’ve had so much fun picking out things for her room.
My favorite piece is this plaque:

It says:
Loved by God,
just as I am.
Made in His image
and part of His plan.”

I love it. Ellie was thrilled. She placed it right on her dresser and next to her mirror. (How appropriate – I need this next to my mirror!)

I want her to know this. I want her to remember this as she heads into her tween years – those awkward years when you’re stuck in the ugly duckling stage, trying to figure out who you are. I want her to remember that she is loved beyond what she can imagine by so many people, but most especially by God. I want her to remember God’s sovereignty over every area of her life.

I also received two of these gorgeous mugs.

They say “She didn’t have to be perfect because she was… Perfectly Loved {1 John 4:8}” I immediately wrapped one up for a friend. A friend I just adore and deeply admire. I know that she – like me – struggles with feeling overwhelmed with life and all her responsibilities. As wives and moms, we have so much on our plates and the world constantly screams at us that we are not enough. We’re not pretty enough, we’re not rich enough, we’re not skinny enough, we’re not doing enough for our kids or our husbands, our house isn’t clean enough… do I even need to go on? I need to drink my morning coffee out of this mug – and remember every day that I am loved and His grace is sufficient.

All of these products are available on Inspired deals! And will make terrific Mother’s Day and Graduation gifts!!
disclosure: i received these products to facilitate this review. all opinions are, as always, my own.

fashion friday: beach bound!

We’re going to the beach! We’re going to the beach! Not just any beach, you guys!

JAMAICA!

*insert happy dance*

I’m dreaming of beaches. Literally, since we’re going to Beaches Negril! WOOT!!!
Words cannot even describe how excited we are! Its going to be awesome!! The kids are going crazy – they all learned to snorkel recently and they are dying to snorkel with actual fish instead of in the pool at the Y 😉

So! On to one of my favorite parts of travel. GETTING NEW OUTFITS FOR THE TRIP! (Am I right, ladies?)

I need some beachwear. STAT. Preferably with polka dots. How cute is that suit? Love the polka dots!! Its so glam and just a little retro! And the neckline would be a nice change from my usual halter.

This is an amazing coverup! So beachy!!

Repeat after me – the only acceptable place to wear a romper when you are over the age of 1 is as a beach coverup. Got it? Good.
Personally, I don’t think a romper is up my alley. But if I was to get one, it would totally be chic – like this cute one!

Last week everyone was swooning over the gorgeous striped maxi dress that unfortunately was really pricey. But look! I found a cheaper version!

Oh, I love, love, love, LOVE THIS DRESS from JCP! And its only $45!

my week in instagram

we had such a fun week this past week.
it started with a trip to NYC.
much to gracie’s delight, we had time to stop at her favorite place!

before we headed over to play soccer with brandi chastain,
which was ellie’s highlight!

for some reason i am dropping everything this week.
i dropped my coffee, the bag of cat food (much to the cat’s delight),
a bagel and an egg.

Oh well. we are also, i am happy sad to announce, hermit crab free.
the third hermit crab died.
so we had yet another funeral.

and wouldn’t ya know… just when i declare i’m not going to eat sugar…
look what arrives from switzerland:

exercise report

Confession: This is me.

I am not a fan of exercise.
I have to force myself workout.
I am super awesome at finding excuses… I’m tired. I’m PMS-ing. I’m too busy. Its Tuesday. Its awful.

Well, we joined a gym last month and I am determined to workout.

You know how they say that when you workout you feel better? Something about endorphins? How you start to love exercise?

Its a myth. A total myth.
someecards.com - Exercising always reminds me why I hate exercising.

Frankly the only thing I like about working out at the gym is that I get to drop off my kids and no one talks to me for awhile.

Oh. OH — want to hear the best part? I have lost exactly zero pounds. ZERO. Zip. NADA. Not a single stinking pound, despite my sweating my butt off 3-4 days a week.

Sigh. Back to the gym.

ellie’s best moment

Life is full of little moments. Once in awhile, you get a best moment. A moment you will always remember. A moment you will treasure forever.

Last week, we had what had a best moments in Ellie’s life. She got to play soccer with World Cup Champion Brandi Chastain.

Ellie has played soccer for years. Its her favorite sport – and when she found out she was going to get to meet a real, professional soccer player. A real, professional, GIRL soccer player. She asked me every single day how much longer it would be. She was jumping around the car on the way there. We got there, she put on her uniform and pretty much charged onto the field.

(Oh, yeah, Kelly Ripa was there, too.  Ellie was like, “LOOK! Its BRANDI!! Hey, isn’t that the lady in the bank commercials?)

It was amazing. AMAZING. I was in heaven watching my girls have the experience of a lifetime. They were running around, running ‘laundry drills’ with the Electrolux Perfect Steam Washer and Dryer, and finally, playing a game.

I love how Grace is fixing her hair and Ellie is shoving Julie‘s son – who was
on her own team – out of the way to get the ball.
Those are my girls, all right!

After the event, the girls got their photo with Brandi. This was so very important to Ellie. She kept saying, “Mom, make sure I get my picture with her, okay? I really, really want my picture with her.”
Then Ellie really blew me away. Ellie is a little shy around new adults. She almost never says much to them (except when we give her the evil eye to make her make polite conversation). But she stopped Brandi and started talking to her, telling her how much she loved soccer and how she had 4 soccer trophies and she is so proud to meet her.
And Brandi was amazing. She was encouraging Ellie to keep playing and was so excited about her 4 trophies. Brandi Chastain was excited that Ellie had four soccer trophies.

It was amazing. I was tearing up watching them. You don’t have moments like this everyday!!

Electrolux understands how important these little moments are. They make so many appliances that save moms time so that we can spend less time in the laundry room and more time having special moments – everyday and best moments – with our families.  We’re researching washers and dryers now, since our dryer is no longer a dryer, merely a “thing that we put clothes in for several hours at a time” and our washer now slowly moves across the laundry room when the spin cycle is on. We’ve looked at so many brands and Electrolux is clearly the top of the top! They are the stars of my dream laundry room!!

Please go and share your “BEST” moments with Electrolux! Every time you do, Electrolux will donate $1 to OCRF. That’s all you have to do and you can help fight ovarian cancer! Every dollar is needed to help this important cause. Despite huge improvements in detection and treatment, ovarian cancer remains the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among American women. Please take a minute to support OCRF!

disclosure: we received transportation to this event and a gift bag. we were not compensated for this post and, as always, all opinions are my own.

fashion friday: SPRING

It is like 70 degrees outside. Can I get a “WOO-HOO”??? A burst of spring weather is like a balm for the soul, isn’t it? Now I’m dreaming of tank tops, flip flops, and dresses….

Let us begin.

The much anticipated Marni for H&M collection debuted this week and it is so amazing. My favorite piece? This lovely top! I love mustard, but can not wear it with my coloring. With it being in the back, I could totally pull this top off!

How comfy-casual-chic would this sweater be with a white maxi skirt? (and its 20% off with code ONNEW20)

And guess what I bought this week? If you guessed COBALT SKINNY JEANS you are SO RIGHT!!!

Sorry. Swooning over here…. LOVE!

How cute is a white blazer? Especially when paired with the brights that are everywhere this season – its perfect!
