my kids…

are driving me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When did they get so loud and obnoxious? Seriously. We’re headed out to rent a video because I just can’t take it anymore!!! Any more hitting, high-pitched squealing, screaming, whining or hair pulling and I may just have to lock them in their bedrooms and go take a bubble bath while drinking tequila straight from the bottle.

On the bright side, I’m getting my birthday present from my in-laws tomorrow…. shelves for the linen closet!!! I am so excited. We’ve had an empty closet since we moved in almost a year ago and linens/bathroom junk is just thrown in random places around the house. I am so excited to organize. Tee-hee-hee. (I know – I’m a dork. So what?)

writers block

I really don’t have anything creative to write about. Husband is on an airplane, kids are sleeping, I’m on the computer not watching Lost, because I’m taping it to watch with Husband. (I know, I know. I’m SuperWife.) I’m munching a bowl of grapes, in an attempt to eat healthy and make my pants fit again. And to off-set the bag of Halloween candy I bought today, which was super dumb as I have no self control when there is candy in the house. Speaking of fitting into my pants again, I haven’t exercised at all this week. I really must tomorrow.

But anywho, tomorrow is Thursday – our day off! No school, no Bible Study, Its like Saturday in our house. Big Sister doesn’t have to wear clothes, Little Sister (and Mama) stay in pjs all morning. Its our ‘rest and play’ day. I’m looking forward to it.  We’re going to go to the library to return the incredibly annoying video we got last week and hopefully get one much more pleasant for one of our favorite activities: Family Pajama Party Night! Pjs, blankets & pillows, popcorn & a movie. Good times.

Today Little Sister said, “Mama! I need you!”

So I picked her up, when she proceeded to take a handful of my shirt and use it to WIPE HER NOSE!!!

can you say sugar high?

Nearly forgot this one: we tried to teach Big Sister to roast marshmellows.

Husband would put a marshmellow on her stick. Then he’d turn to lead her towards the fire. Then he’d turn to Big Sis and say:

Husband: “Where’d your marshmellow go?”
Big Sister: “In my mouth.”
(pause to get a new marshmellow)
Husband: “Where’d your marshmellow go?”
Big Sister: “In my mouth.”
(pause to get a new marshmellow)
Husband: “Where’d your marshmellow go?”
Big Sister: “In my mouth.”
(repeat waaaay too many times!!)

clever girl

So, Husband and I recently decided that our kids were eating too much sugar. So we cut waaaay back on dessert and stuff. We’ve been doing fruit or nothing at all with the occasional cookie thrown in so we’re not classified as wierd or anything. The girls have been good sports, even acting happy when they say, “Dessert? Cookie?” and I say “How about a banana? Yum-o!!”

Anyway, tonight as we were finishing up dinner (quesadillas – yum!) Big Sister says:
Big Sis: “Mama, say ‘cook.'”
Me: (not paying attention, telling Husband that Little Sister is eating out of the salsa bowl with a spoon)
Bis Sis: “Mama! Say ‘cook.'”
Me: “Cook.”
Big Sis: “Good! Now say ‘Eeeeeeeeeeeeee.'”
Me: “Eeeeeeeeeee.”
Big Sis: “Good idea, Mama!”
Me: (as Husband is laughing hysterically) “Wait a second…..”

eating habits

At dinner, Husband is commenting (very enthusiastically, of course) that I managed to find whole wheat hamburger buns. (He would like nothing more than to eat nasty white bread forever. Eww.  He calls me the Fiber Nazi.)

Me: “Come on, don’t you know by now that I don’t buy white anything?”

Husband: “Are you a food racist?”

are you nuts?

Clearly. We’re going camping this weekend! In a tent! With our kids!  Nighttime low — 42 degrees. Burr. We will be huddling together under the down comforter for warmth a la Waltons.

So I probably won’t be posting tomorrow, since I have to pack 68912864 more things and somehow shove them into the van. We’ll take pictures! Only I guarantee I will not be in any of them, since the only beauty treatment that will happen all weekend is the occasional brushing of teeth.

blogger, know thyself

This is for 3 of my loyal readers who are perpetually bored at work. I expect to read your results tomorrow, okay you guys! Thanks, Marianne & dcrmom.

After taking this, I realize I am a “Casual” Type A personality. (You are shocked, no?) “This is a woman who has the same tendencies as her compulsive sister. She, however does not go to the extreme. While her environment is always neat and disorder distresses her, she does not obsess over it. She has managed to place relationships in their proper perspective, yet struggles keeping them there. In a nutshell, she is a more easy going or relaxed version of an A – Compulsive.”

According to this, I am an otter. Which means: “Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes  be hurt when people do not like them.  Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off.  (They are notorious for messy rooms.)  Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.)”  Humm. Not sure that’s quite right. My type-A keeps me from having a very messy room, but I am social.

My brain color is blue. So that means:

  What Color is Your Brain?

BLUE:At work or in school: I like to be with people, sharing with them, inspiring them, and helping them. I work and learn best when I can take into consideration people and the human element. I flourish in an atmosphere of cooperation.
With friends: I always look for perfect love. I am very romantic, and I enjoy doing thoughtful things for others. I am affectionate, supportive and a good listener.
With family: I like to be happy and loving. I am very sensitive to rejection from my family and to family conflicts. I really like to be well thought of and need frequent reassurance. I love intimate talks and warm feelings.

And my favorite quiz: What Jane Austen character am I like? Why, my favorite, ELizabeth Bennet of course! “You are spirited and quick-witted. You like nothing more than to be outdoors in the fresh air or at a lively ball, however, you are also able to enjoy your own company at home with a book. You are stubborn, but fair and loved by all those around you. You love to make jokes and laugh at nonsensical things, and tease people but you detest snobbery of any kind and won’t be patronised by people who think themselves superior to you. You are often too quick to judge people but you are not afraid to admit when you are in the wrong.” Humm. I actually hate to admit when I am wrong. Anywho, I also had a strong dash of Emma in me, which I believe explains my fascination with celebrity gossip: “You are such a busy-body and love nothing more than poking your nose into peoples’ business.”
