oh right. my business….

Well, I had 4 people ask me this weekend about my new business. And since these gals make up probably half of my loyal readers, I figured I should give out an update!

Franky, not much has been happening thus far. My business partner had hand surgery yesterday, so we won’t be able to get sewing anytime soon. Hopefully by Christmas things can take off. Right now we are totally, completely stuck on picking a name. We have two or three choices, but just can’t decide. Lots of pressure. (I wasn’t too swift at picking my kids’ names either. Little Sister was “Baby Girl” for several days. But, in my defense, she was a month early.)

But not to say that nothing has happening.  I have come up with a few designs I’m pleased with. This is the tote bag and the quilted tote bag I designed. Perfect size, I think. I may try to make one that’s horizontal. I prefer wide bags to tall bags. I’m still banging out the nappy wallet. So the bags are pretty much set.

Now I’m moving on to baby stuff. Yesterday I made a baby quilt out of the scraps I had around the house. I think it came out fairly cute.

All to say, things are moving along, but frustratingly slow. As two moms with two kids each, plus lives beyond that, we are struggling to even find time to chat about business-y stuff beyond quick check-ins on the cell phone. So this may take longer than we hoped to get off the ground, but we’re still excited and enjoying the process.

i’m still here

Its been nuts. I went to a funeral for a friend’s mother yesterday and I have memorial service for a different friend’s mother next week. And a good friend’s baby is having open-heart surgery on Tuesday.

My usual whining just seems pathetic in the face of all that. Hopefully I’ll be inspired soon…

But I must give a shout-out to DCRMom who is right now on her way to DISNEY WORLD!! Yay!!

twick-r-tweet

dsc03097.JPG

Here are my little princesses with two friends, all ready to go trick-or-treating!

They got an insane amount of candy, probably due mostly to Little Sis who ran up to every house and yelled “Twick-r-Tweet” before diving into the candy with two hands.  Daddy and Mr. F took the 6 kids trick-or-treating while Mommy and Mrs. F stayed home and drank cosmos handed out Halloween candy.

They are totally going through sugar withdrawal today, due to Mean Mommy not letting them keep their high by having candy for breakfast. (“But Mama, we need some! Its Halloween!”)  Big Sis threw a f-i-t this morning when Mama wouldn’t let her wear her Belle dress to school again. (“But I’m a princess! I AM Belle!”) They are both totally pooped and already asking when they can go trick-or-treating again.

Thank goodness this is only once a year.  Now I have the rest of the year to lose the weight I will gain from eating the 27 pounds of candy that’s in our house. I mean, I am waaaaaayyy too good of a mommy to let them eat all of that sugar! Its just not healthy! It is my duty to eat that candy for them. Now, if you’ll excuse me, the Snickers are calling my name……

have to share this

… for the good of humanity.

I’ve recently discovered this new product, called CoverToxTen50™ Wrinkle Therapy Concealer.  (I know, I know, I took this last birthday pretty hard. But I’m almost 30 people. 30.)   But I didn’t buy it for wrinkles, I swear. I always have been pestered by dark circles under my eyes, which seem to have taken up permanent residence on my face ever since my kids were born. This stuff has made them virtually disappear. I kid you not. I no longer look like a walking, talking zombie-mama. Give it a try – you won’t be disappointed!

i am soooooo sad

I was doing a quick clean of the bathrooms tonight while Husband watched soccer and the girls played quietly downstairs. As I was cleaning, I took the cap off this new toilet cleaner I bought and some spilled on my leg, finger and sweater.

No big deal, right? Its just toilet cleaner. So you would think. But it is, in fact, some sort of acid. Probably used by terrorists in some way shape or form.

My finger and leg immediately burned so badly that I had to rip off my pants and try to wash it off. I looked at my sweater and there was a huge bleach-type discoloration right over my left boob. This was one of my favorite sweaters. I am so depressed. What the heck is in this stuff? I am all about a clean house, but this is a bit much.

Sno Bol toilet cleaner is evil. Can I sue?

a quiet place

“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:13b

Do you ever get the feeling the God is talking directly to you? This is our memory verse in Bible Study for the next two weeks. I had to stop right there and didn’t finish any more of the study.

This fall, I began leadership in CBS, working as a substitute leader. I’ve been enjoying it, but struggling a bit to get my homework done and I’m still feeling very intimidated to be in leadership with all these amazing Christian women. I’m always impressed when we go over the lesson in leaders how deep and well-thought people’s answers are. Whereas mine are like, “Yes” or “No” or “Jesus healed her and she was happy.” (very profound, I know.) This has been bothering me, since not only am I struggling to get my lessons done at all, but they aren’t even done well.

But, it hit me this morning when I was working on this lesson and got to the memory verse. I was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking coffee, eating breakfast, with Sesame Street on in the background. During my lesson I had: changed a diaper, made breakfast for Little Sis, gotten more coffee, made chocolate milk, gotten Big Sister dressed and answered the phone.

Well, mystery solved.  No wonder my answers stink. I can’t remember the last time I did my Bible Study in a quiet place. Its usually at the coffee table while the kids watch a video or while Husband watches tv at night. I mean, who can concentrate on anything else when Lost is on? 😉 (I mean, did you see last night’s episode? Did you?!?)  So this is my new resolution. I will do my Bible Study in quiet. While not doing anything else. Really.  I think this will make a huge difference, both in my study answers and in my walk with the Lord.  And hopefully I can have the self-discipline to stick to it.
