i will never live this down. nev. er.

Today I went to Ellie’s preschool for “Muffins with Mom.” I was presented with a beautiful potted plant (which fell over in the car on the way home. Sweet.) and they sung us a song.

Then the teacher read each students’ special message to their moms. “I like my mom because…”

Some said, “She gives good hugs.” “She reads me lots of books.” Even “She buys me Star Wars toys.”

What was Ellie’s?

its only tuesday?

Geez – what a couple of days. Last day of Bible Study, Husband working like crazy, house a wreck…. Yesterday, Husband called to schedule our shed delivery and they said, “How ’bout today?” So we had our shed delivered yesterday.

We all went inside to admire our new storage space and within .7 seconds, Ellie had a gigantic piece of wood sticking out of her hand. So I had to get the splinter out, which caused her to cook and scream and carry on like I was amputating her leg with a rusty saw. Good heavens. The neighbor actually came over and checked to make sure we were okay because she heard the screaming. (She’s a nurse.) That is how loud she was screaming. Heaven forbid she actually seriously hurts herself.

Then today we had the Jetta in for its inspection. And left $770 later. Which, you may notice, breaks the record we set last month for a $500 inspection. We are all about setting records with our cars this year.

I reorganized the kids toys today because they were everywhere and driving me nuts-o. They weren’t even playing with them and we had a bunch of baby toys mixed in. So tonight they were crying because they wanted to stay awake and play with their “new toy room.” That bodes well for tomorrow 🙂

Craziness.

radio silence

I’m still here! Just half-dead. Do you know how much dirt weighs? At least 76 pounds per square inch. That’s what it feels like anyway. I can still barely move! Want to know the best part? We didn’t order nearly enough dirt. So next weekend…. party at our house!

I’m not sure how much I’ll manage to post this week – our schedule is super packed. How we are going to get all this done is all up to God ’cause we are not superheros. But maybe I will blog a lot.  Free therapy.

We had a fun day yesterday after killing ourselves on Saturday. We went to a friend’s house after church – and they had a Wii! Oh my goodness. SOOOO much fun! I creamed Husband in bowling. I want one. Maybe I can convert Husband over from Playstation….

ahhh, spring!

Can we officially call it spring now? I know that we recently had a snow day, but May counts as spring, right? We just got back from meeting Husband for a picnic lunch in the amazing park next to his office, one of our favorite summer rituals. All our windows are open to enjoy the beautiful warm breezes. All three of us girls have pink toenail we are showing off in new Old Navy flip-flops. I’m planning out our flower beds and containers for this summer – so fun. I love summer!

Today my MIL offered to babysit this afternoon so I am running the mall to pick up some last minute, uh, “necessities” for my trip to Hilton Head. Cause new summer pajamas are necessary when your old ones look like this. Sexy, no? I think these and these are cute. (Again. Super sexy. I just can’t help it!) And I realized that I have no khaki-ish capris! Must shop! I have an excuse!

**update: Definitely spring, based on the alarming number of bugs that got plastered to my windshield during my short 5-mile ride on the highway. Ick.

Many cute finds. But no jammies. Like this (for only $10!) and this (in case I’m not quite bikini ready). And doesn’t this outfit just scream “Hilton Head”?? Do you like the big mark on the leg that I swear wasn’t there when I tried them on?  Hum… wash or return….

High: Getting out by myself for an hour.
Low: For my ob/gyn appointment.

bikini countdown: two weeks!

These countdowns are coming alarmingly fast. Two weeks?

So, this week I am happy to report zero progress. Actually, negative progress since I gained weight. And I even worked out! Three times!!! And I ate okay. Not super, but not too terrible.

But there’s two weeks left. TWO WEEKS!!!!!

this, that and some wardrobe help

dsc_0786.jpgHere are the fruit of my labors this past week. The two one the left are “Ballet Bags,” since a friend informed me that the bag I made her was hijacked by her dancer daughter because it was just perfect for her ballet stuff. Two in the right are gifts for Ellie’s preschool teachers. I made another one with this fabric and this liner, for a friend but gave it to her already. Now I need to take a break from sewing to work on the yard and stuff. My obsessiveness comes out in my sewing. I’m either not doing it at all, or that’s all I’m doing.
**********
Here’s a picture of our “grass,” which technically contains exactly no grass. I think its funny. Our yard is so pathetic!

I think that Ellie may still be a tad tired after being sick. Don’t you?

Have you seen this, some of which is now for sale at Michaels? Have you? HAVE YOU?
There goes all my spending money. Right there.

Speaking of spending money, I’m trying to get out of my wardrobe rut (along with DCRmom!). (Going out: jeans and t-shirt. At home: yoga pants and t-shirt. Church: skirt and… t-shirt.) Today I picked up this shirt. And recently bought this dress. I’ve decided to just embrace this season’s “Let’s make everyone look like they’re wearing maternity clothes” look. Oh well. It’ll keep everyone guessing, which is always fun. (I’ve been eyeing this as well. What think you?)

cause its not like we have anthing else to do…..

Its May?!?!?!?!!? Does anyone else feel like their life is either whizzing by or at a snail’s pace? We’re at warp speed, here at our house.

Along with all of this house and landscaping nonsense,  Husband’s career just got a sudden jump. Due to some “restructuring” at his company, one of his team members and fellow Product Manager got promoted.  This guy was in charge of a b-i-g product. So big, in fact, that he handled only this one product. Well, who did they decide to give this huge product line to? That’s right! My husband! And he’s being sent to Harvard* this summer for some “executive training.” He’s really excited. But also a bit overwhelmed and intimidated. As he put it, “Everyone from the president to all our consultants will know my name. For better or worse.” He’ll do great. I know it. But he’s going to be very. busy. for quite awhile as he gets used to things.  ‘Cause its not like he has anything else to do.

And I’ve been getting inquiries about buying the stuff I make and am realizing that my co-worker bee and I need to make some decisions and get moving with this little business we’ve been playing with starting.  All very exciting, but also a little overwhelming. Am I ready to take on more? ‘Cause its not like I have anything else to do.

What about you? Does big stuff always happen while bigger stuff is already happening?!?

*This could potentially be bad, since I bet you dollars to donuts that he will come home with visions of Ph.D.s dancing around in his head.
