finally. news!

We have a diagnosis! Its Lyme’s Disease. I’m relieved, since they were mentioning some fairly serious stuff, and its easily treatable with antibiotics. The doctor said I should be feeling better in 3-4 days. Which is wonderful!!!!

I have my kids tomorrow all day, so we’ll see how I survive on my own. I need to get ready because my in-laws are moving in on Friday and Husband’s whole family (parents, sister, brother, their spouses and two kids under 1.) are staying here until Sunday, when we all head to the shore for a week in Ocean City. I’m saving my strength!

I just saw this commercial: “56% of diet cola drinkers think that Diet Pepsi has more cola taste than Diet Coke.”
What the heck? Is that supposed to make me want to drink Diet Pepsi? 56% is supposed to be impressive? Wow! Landslide victory, huh?

Today Ellie went to a birthday party and there was a ice cream sundae bar. When she got home, I asked her what she put on top of her ice cream.
“Everything!” she says.
That’s my girl!

no news

Called the doctor today and test results still aren’t in. Hopefully tomorrow, that’s what we’re praying for. I would like to start being treated for something, instead of just living on pain meds. Not that its not fun to be unable to follow conversations.  And I’d like to be well and to stop feeling like a drama queen.

And I’m being so being well taken care of by my friends. We have meals coming all week and people are emailing to ask when they can watch our kids. We feel loved!

still here

went to boston — glad that i did. wedding was beautiful and i got to see husband’s grandma, who is not doing well. i’m really, really glad i sucked it up and went. everyone was very helpful with our kids and i was able to sneak off and take naps. but i’m still worn out.

some quotes:

“if a cop is riding by himself, can he pull us over in the car pool lane?” as we are whizzing through hartford, ct.

while driving through massachusetts:
“oh, look! here’s the connecticut map!!”
“that would have been helpful half an hour ago. when we were lost in connecticut!!!!”

in other news, i’m still really sick. fun. i’m debating whether i need to stop waiting for my test results and go back in to the doctors tomorrow, since something is obviously wrong here. i’m really strugging because i can’t do anything for myself. i can barely get up once i’m lying down. being vertical is painful. my husband is doing everything and i can’t handle my kids because their voices make my aching head want to explode. i hate being helpless. i’m really having a hard time with this. right now i’m trying to find childcare for tomorrow, since husband really has to go to work for at least half a day. keep praying.

oh, the drama

I just got back from the doctor. After 3 days, I’m not feeling any better so I decided to get checked out, since the pain is getting unmanageable. Mortin wears off after only about 3 hours and then I’m right back where I started. Sleeping isn’t working out too well, either, as I’ve actually woken up in tears of pain a few times. (Despite having a very high pain tolerance.)

So they drew roughly 2 gallons of blood (seriously, how much do they really need?) and my doctor is running tests for everything from Lyme’s Disease to Lupus to different viruses. We should know by Tuesday what the heck is wrong with me. She gave me a prescription anti-inflammatory, but told me to “Get as much rest as you can, because the next few days are going to be pretty miserable.” Hum… and I leave for Boston tomorrow morning to go to that wedding. That should be restful.

Ugh. Pray for me.

i couldn’t help it

I had to finish it.

But I’m going to take a nap now, I swear.

Its not a crazy as it sounds, I suddenly had a free afternoon since I showed up at the birthday party today only to find the house empty. So I looked again and realized that the party is NEXT Wednesday.  At least no one was home, so these new friends don’t find out right away how crazy I am 🙂

shout outs

Snaps for my little sister, who graduated from Ohio State this past Sunday. With a degree in business. (Not a degree in bar-hopping, despite the jokes about OSU. That was only her minor.) And she even has a big-girl job. Go, girl!
Snaps to my youngest sister, who was accepted into the education program at her school, which is one of the best in the country and is very competitive. Now she does not have to major in just history, since you all know that saying, “If you want to make real money, major in history!” Woo-hoo!!!
Snaps to my brother‘s girlfriend, who beat out 300 applicants to get a superb teaching position in a great school district. Now she will not have to go on strike and live off her huge, fat bank account ramen noodles. Yay!!!

sorry. need to whine.

So my aching tiredness that I was experiencing last night turned out to be more than that. Somehow I have managed to get sick with something resembling the flu, despite the fact it is June.

So I’m laying on the couch wrapped in my bathrobe and a quilt with my teeth chattering and every muscle and joint aching, despite having taken both Advil and Tylenol. Husband is in surgery in Baltimore, so I can’t call him and whine about being sick. And my kids. My kids. While I appreciate that they slept through the night so that I did not have to deal with them, they have waaaayyyy too much energy for me right now. They are literally running around in circles in the playroom, crashing into walls and yelling “Ouchie!” then bursting into hysterical laughter. And they are completely ignoring the quality children’s programing I put on in the hopes that they would watch quietly while I slept on the couch. Ugh. I hate being sick, mainly because it usually happens at very inconvenient times.

You know what is bothering me the most? I was planning on finishing up painting the 4th bedroom either last night or this afternoon. It is driving me completely nuts that the room is only half-painted. I am seriously wondering if I will feel well enough by naptime to finish it. I think I may indeed be crazy.

**update: OKAY OKAY.  I didn’t paint. Instead I yelled at my kids to LAYDOWNANDTAKEANAPALREADY and I slept for 4 hours.  Husband came home from his trip early (oh, how I love him) and went out again to buy me more Advil LiquiGels (Oh, how I adore him) and is taking care of the kids so I can relax in a hot bath in an attempt to ease my achiness (He is a prince among men. Seriously.)
Now I’m just praying to get well by tomorrow, as Ellie’s friend is having a birthday with a pool and a moonbounce and I would rather eat bugs than tell her she can’t go.

isn’t it nice when they work things out by themselves?

Last night, we were all sitting down for family devotions when I noticed something on Gracie’s arm.
Me: Grace, what happened to your arm?
Grace: Where?
Me: Right here. This circle bruise. It looks like teeth.
Grace: Oh. Ellie bite me.
Me: What?!?
Grace: Ellie bite me.
Husband and I look over at Ellie, whose looks like a deer caught in headlights. We try not to laugh at her face despite our outrage over the bite.
Husband: Ellie, did you bite Grace?
Ellie: nods
Me: Why?
Ellie: She was bothering me.
Me: Grace, why didn’t you tell Mommy Ellie bit you?
Grace: Its okay. I hit her.

You can only imagine the conversation that followed that one.

And may I present Gracie’s new favorite way to watch tv:

Don’t you love the exposed nails above the unattached moldings?  Our playroom is super child-friendly like that.

some advice

When you are going to a wedding on Saturday, do not wait until that Monday to buy a gift for the bride and groom. Because you will look on the Macy’s registry and see nothing other than china place settings on sale for $150. (Snort! As if I would even buy a full set of dishes for $150!!! Holy cow!)

Well, lets go shopping and see how creative I can be!

Here is the adorable quilt I made yesterday for a college friend who just had a baby girl. How cute is this? It’s pale pink, sage green and ivory backed with ivory minkee.

And here’s my finished mudroom! Hard to get the true feel of how it looks with a photo, seeing as this room is very small and “L” shaped. But here you go! This is our “closet wall” with all of our cool laminate storage. Have I mentioned how I love Target? And Ikea?I wish I could have managed to sneak in a picture of my favorite purchase, the rug. Oh well. You’ll just have to come visit to get the full effect.

Please note that I moved that washer and dryer out and back all by myself!! This may perhaps be why my back is hurting today.
