Yesterday and today I went with my mom and some of my aunts to the Quilt Extravaganza in Harrisburg, PA. Not a “Quilt Show” or “A Quilt Expo” — a Quilt Extravagnza. That made me giggle every time I passed a sign. (Some people are really serious about their quilting, folks, and its a bad idea to make fun of them when they can hear you.) Also taking place in the same building was the Gun Expo, so you can imagine how many men were looking at quilts. Approximately 6.
I was definitely on the young side of the average age, which led to a few awkward attempts at flirtation by nerdy male vendors which make me torn between wanting to run away and hide behind my mom and laughing in their face while telling them I’m actually not only married but pregnant. (What a catch I am!)
I was for some strange, odd reason drawn inexplicably to everything baby. Hum. I got things to make two girly quilts and two boy quilts. I’ll post pics tomorrow, because they are awfully cute. One of the girl quilts will be using ric-rac. Hee hee.
I also splurged on little ol’ me and bought a bag pattern and fabric. Now this is strange because 1) I never make things for myself. 2) I never follow directions. Therefore patterns are usually a waste of time for me. But I am determined to challenge myself by doing what I daily challenge my kids to do: follow directions.
‘Cause I think this is really cute. Especially the bow. I’m sure I could improve it, but I’m really going to try to control myself. I’ll let you know how it turns out!
