on a lighter note

I’ve decided to move in with my mom. Not just because I’d have a cook, nanny and housekeeper (Haha! Just kidding, Mom!) But because my kids are sleeping like maniacs. Seriously.
Last night Grace slept almost 12 hours. Grace. 12 hours. Grace, who only sleeps grudgingly when we force her to. She woke up at 9am this morning. And Ellie rolled out of be at 8:30. At home, we consider ourselves incredibly lucky if they sleep until 7. There’s something magic about my mom’s house. We may need to buy it.

Ellie: Mommy, remember when the doctor told us that we were having a baby brother?
Me: Yes.
Ellie: Well, when will the doctor tell you what the baby’s name is?
Me: Actually, Mommy and Daddy get to pick the baby’s name.
Ellie: Really? Wow.
Me: What do you think we should name the baby?
Ellie: Um… Clam.
Me: Oh. Kay…

I’m really done Christmas shopping. I mean it this time. Must. Stop. Shopping. But yesterday I went to the Baby Gap outlet. And they had baby boy clothes! I just can’t help myself! The girls insisted on buying these totally adorable little sneakers for the baby for Christmas. They were only $2 – I couldn’t say no. And I had to buy something that looked like this. For $5. Even though I had already picked up this in blue and tan on the Old Navy clearance rack. I mean, it had a matching hat!!I am only so strong, people.
Somebody stop me! Take away my Gap card – please!!!
*Oh, and by the way, if anyone is looking for a last minute gift idea for moi, I totally want this. Matching pajamas!! For me and my baby boy!! Could you not die?

By the way, DCRmom is giving away FOUR Lands End diaper bags on her blog, so run on over and enter! And mail me that blue one when you win!

caio!

Husband called from Italy last night. He is having a totally amazing time (Of course. Is it possible not have a fabulous time in Italy? Especially on an expense account?)
Their plane arrived Sunday morning and they had all day to explore Milan before meeting and actual work started Monday morning.  He apparently has taken about 300 pictures (See? Those 3,000 we took in India were tame!) and has eaten some of the” best food ever in his whole entire life.” And had some of the best drinks as well. Something about a 35 year old bottle of wine… didn’t catch all of that story.
Anyway, he says, “We have to come here. Its so amazing – you would love it. You have to see this.”
I said, “Hel-LO! What have I been telling you we were doing for our 10th anniversary since we got married? Going to Italy!!”
“Oh, Right. I think I remember that.”

let it snow!

We just don’t see snow like this in Philly. I literally cannot see the house across the street! Crazy! In Philly, we would be in a state of emergency and every news station would be on high alert. Here? They’re still playing football. Despite the fact that you can’t even see the players, the ball or the field. Its like watching tv on a really old black and white tv with bad reception.
And this morning, someone came and shoveled my mom’s driveway – how sweet is that? We don’t even know which neighbor did it. It makes me wish we lived in more of a neighborhood.

Last night the baby decided it was very comfortable resting directly on my sciatic nerve. So I can no longer walk. Well, I can walk, but I look like an 97-year-old. (Seriously, my kids are laughing at me.)  I can lay down comfortably, but any movement is quite painful. Thank goodness I’m at my mom’s house and not on my own for the week at home with a missing husband and snow to shovel.

I have officially eaten about 5 dozen Christmas cookies this weekend. And could easily eat more. I do NOT have the self control to be in the same house with cookies.

snow day!

Well the huge snow storm that was scheduled to hit Ohio hit just half an hour later than predicted by the news. (Suprisingly accurate, for weather people!) So we have begun being snowed in. What better to do than bake 3,000 Christmas cookies?

Between that and the box of Chex Mix that my mom bought  at Sam’s, I have officially begun doubling my pregnancy weight gain this holiday season. (If you don’t know me, you may not know that I lurv Chex Mix and it is one of my favorite things to eat ever. Ask lurking reader Joy, who watched me devour almost an entire bag by myself at the women’s retreat while she laughed hysterically, saying things like “Chex Mix? I never would have thought!”) I physically cannot walk by the pantry without eating some.

And Husband is off to  Italy and Switzerland for the week, while we hang out in exotic Cleveland. Poor baby. Don’t you feel sooo sorry for him? I sure do.

dumb weather

So we’re driving to Ohio today now, since the weather insists on doing things like ‘snowing’ and ‘freezing rain’ this weekend. Like its winter or something. SO the girls and I are headed out this morning! Wish us luck!* Happy Friday.
*I am so tired of traveling. After this trip, I will be traveling no further than the mall until this baby is born.

should i be learning a lesson here?

Well, I haven’t blogged in about 2 days. And in the meantime, I
* cleaned the entire house
* finished all my Christmas shopping
* wrote, addressed, & mailed all of our Christmas cards
* gave someone a haircut (did you know about that hidden talent?)
* had dinner with girlfriends
* entertained a houseguest
* began packed for our journey to Ohio this weekend.

Maybe I should take blogging siestas more often.

must stop eating

This is out of control. I could eat all. Day. Long. Seriously. Doesn’t matter what, I’m not really craving anything in particular. Just food in general. I feel like eating all the time. Munch, munch, munch. That’s me.

Despite that, I’m only up 13 pounds. And I love my baby boy. With my baby girls, there was much more even weight distribution (ahem. like around my butt, for example.) But this time it seems to be mostly belly, which is very nice!

(excuse the dirty mirror 🙂
