fashion friday: the little white dress

Last week we discussed the little black dress. And despite the fact that it is snowing IN APRIL, we are going to discuss one of spring’s hottest trends today: The Little White Dress.

If I was going to buy one little white dress this year, it would be the Wilma Eyelet Dress by Lilly Pulitzer. I tried this on at the Lilly Pulitzer store opening I went to last month and it was FANTASTIC. It looked amazing! (And one of my friends tried on the Shayna Lace Dress and it was totally adorable as well.)

The Cecilia Dress from J Crew is gorgeous as well. Very classic – you could wear this anywhere.

I love this one from White House Black Market. Its so sweet. Its a very conservative cut, but still very sexy.  I love the black accessories.

For a more casual look, the Sleeveless Empire Waist Dress by Lands End Canvas is simply sweet.  This cut is perfect for emphesizing your arms and chest while hiding your tummy. I love the dash of color at the waist and the price – just $69!

And what would say summer more than a white, flowing maxi dress like this one by Tommy Bahama?

fashion friday: the little black dress

Every girl needs a little black dress. If you need one, there are some amazing ones out there right now!

This one from White House Black Market has an A-line cut, v-neck and belt that are universally flattering. You could dress it up with amazing jewelry and heels or wear it with a cute cardigan for the office.

I’d love a strapless black dress – and if I bought one it would be this one from J Crew. Love, love, LOVE.

This one is darling! Its a Piperlime exclusive – for only $44!

fashion friday: think spring

Its 75 degrees today. AND SUNNY. {insert happy dance} So lets find some cute spring things!!!

1. I am totally and completely in love with this skirt by White House Black Market. Isn’t it absolutely darling?!?! (The sash is removable, but of course its my favorite part!)

2. I LOVE wearing dressed in the summer. And my favorite is the maxi dress.  So super comfy and they can go from the pool to out to dinner with just a change of shoes! I picked up this one recently at Target. Its a little more boho than I usually wear, but for summer it looks like fun!
Fullscreen capture 3172011 91308 PM.bmp
3. My other favorite part of spring? Breaking out the sandals! My friend Julie has these and I’ve been drooling over them for like two years. And now they’re 45% off on 6pm.com! (plus 5% cash back!)

4. Don’t forget flip flops!
Fullscreen capture 3172011 92925 PM.bmp

5. I love flowy, blousey tops! And they are way too many to choose from. But I tried on this twist pleat shell at Loft the other day and it was yummy!

fashion friday: lilly pulitzer

Lilly_Pulitzer_Script_LogoP
Last night, I was joined with a few friends at the opening at the new Lilly Pulitizer store in Ardmore! First, is there much better than a girls night out? Especially when that night includes shopping 🙂

My favorite part was watching the Lilly artists create a gorgeous pattern on a giant canvas.

There was of course too many fabulous pieces to share here, but a few that I loved..

The Jonah Dress is fabulous. If I had a job where I wasn’t able to wear yoga pants 90% of the time, I would buy this dress in a heartbeat. Paired with nude heels or maybe boots! And heaven help me, look at the matching jacket!
Fullscreen capture 392011 24829 PM.bmp

I loved this dress – I cannot find in on the website. Maybe its sold out already? Which would be understandable because it is so darn cute! It would look much better on me if I had a tan. But I think most things look better after I am a little tan.

I tried this dress on and it was to die for. TO DIE FOR. I wish it was spring. Like now.

(Colleen from Classy Mommy is wearing this dress, Julie from Just Precious is wearing this and I look like a giant! I’m really not that tall!)

The Picture Perfect Espadille is so on trend that it is not even funny.

If I could pick one thing, out of anything in the whole store, I’d be tempted by those shoes, but it would probably be this Shere Sweater Coat. Not only do I have a deep and abiding love of sweater coats, but it has ruffles and you know me and my ruffles! This cashmere coat looks so comfy and cozy – I would probably live in it! It was positively divine!

Do you love Lilly?

disclosure: i received a gift bag to thank me for attending this event. i was not compensated financially and – as always – all opinions are my own. especially about clothes!

fashion friday: i may be crazy, but i can still look cute

So somehow its Friday and I’m still working on my to-do list from Wednesday…

Did anyone else have a week like that? As in driving to the wrong place with the wrong child, the school calling me twice because I forgot to send in notes for the kids, trips to the ER, you know… stuff like that. I’m hoping that this weekend I can restart my brain so that next week won’t be quite so crazy.

In the meantime, I have a few little gems for you!

1. I am totally and completely in love with this skirt by White House Black Market. Isn’t it absolutely darling?!?! (The sash is removable, but of course its my favorite part!) This would be perfect for an event I have next week that I can’t tell you about yet, but I promise will be worth the wait.
Full-skirt-whbm

2. OOO – maybe I could pair that skirt with this top from ModCloth!
23856re-1

3. I LOVE these pants. I’ve been looking for a gray herringbone pant for like 2 years and I think I found it! LOFT has these new Leg Lengthening Pants that are positively amazing. (and here’s that cute blouse you see a peek of!)
Fullscreen capture 2242011 25450 PM.bmp

4. Love these flared trouser jeans from Old Navy. You can’t get much more stylish than this for under $30… LOVE the cuffs!
On838476-00vliv01

5. Okay. I know that jumpsuits are trendy again. But I just don’t get it. Just. Don’t.  I mean, how does one go to the bathroom while wearing these things exactly? Do you really want to get undressed every time you go? And unless you are built like this mannequin, I think it would be hard to pull this look off. Since even she isn’t looking super hot…

fashion friday: create your own collection by ralph lauren *giveaway*

*comments are now closed. congratulations to our winner!*

As a Ralph Lauren Mombassador, I recently got to design my own polo shirt! SO fun! Ralph Lauren offers you can chance to Create Your Own Polo and put your personal twist on their signature style.

DSC_0655-1 I got one for my son, Colin, because while the girls colors were sweet, I personally think that there is not much cuter than a little boy in a Ralph Lauren Polo. (See photographic proof to the left.)  And Colin loves them because he looks “just like Daddy!” He opened up the box and started yelling, “Daddy, Daddy! LOOK! Just like your shirt!”

Colin got to pick his own colors – he chose black with orange, which I have to say was very cool (clearly he inherited Mama’s sense of style)! And I loved the little card that it came with, saying that this shirt was created especially for you!

Here’s how it works!  Click here to visit Ralph Lauren’s Create Your Own site. Then work through the selections. There are a TON of combinations and its really easy!

Polo_us_0125_cyo_banner
The shirt came out so adorable – this would make such a great birthday present! Look at how cute my boy is:

This shirt was definitely a hit! Colin liked it so much, he slept in it the day it arrived because he refused to take it off!

fashion friday: on camera

So, I was on NBC Philadelphia Wednesday. I didn’t tell you before now because I’ve been too busy

1. Trying to figure out what to wear.
2. Trying not to throw up.

Just kidding! I was trying not to faint!

So I survived my first attempt at live television without ending up as a viral YouTube hit, so I’m happy! It actually was a lot of fun. It was fascinating to be a part of a live broadcast and I actually wasn’t nervous. Well, I was DYING of nerves in the Green Room, but once I sat down and got miked, I was fine. Tracy Davidson was lovely and she had KILLER shoes on. I’m so mad that I never got to ask her where they were from. Humph.

Now… what did I wear? I confess that I had about 6 outfits in the running. And that I gave this WAYYYY too much thought.

Fullscreen capture 2172011 35315 PM

I ended up wearing:

255154_5869_gsm193x200
After much deliberation, I decided on this Abstract Print shell from Loft. I wanted something bright and girly, but not with lots of ruffles or anything that would be distracting. And I paired it with this

250610_8908_gmd323x335
Front Pocket Cardigan
also from Loft. I needed something in a solid color that wasn’t light or black. Pink seemed appropiate. I am “Girlymama” after all 😉

3541_new_york_dark_l
Dojo Flare Leg Trouser Jean
from 7 for All Mankind are my go-to jeans. I didn’t want to be too dressed up, so a trouser jean was perfect!

Fullscreen capture 2172011 41508 PM.bmp
My Twist Toe Wedges
from Target. Because I didn’t want to trip or fall down or anything.

183813_3019_gmd323x335
Pink Briolette Cluster Earrings
from Loft. Because they’re pretty.

Fashion Friday: Dresses

Well, its that  time of year! Spring is in the air (well, in places other than here), the wedding and baby shower invitations are arriving and I have dresses on the brain! I’ve found a few this week that I totally fell in love with that I have to share with you!

1.

19711456_004_b
I am in love with this dress. This is not infatuation. This is no school girl crush. This is the real thing. I love the cut, I love the waist band, I love the plaid, I love the neckline, I love the length, I love that it doesn’t look like anything else I’ve seen recently. I love it. A charcoal grey cardigan would look adorable with this… definitely nude heels.

2.

20095550_045_b
I picture this dress with a little cardigan and nude heels or wedges. Maybe while eating outdoors at a bistro downtown. Or at a bridal shower lunch. The detailing is so cute!

3.

On809605-02vliv01
If you’re looking to try using a dress to layer, this one is perfect. This would look darling over skinny jeans with a light cardigan! Or with boots and a denim jacket!!

4.

Fullscreen capture 232011 24812 PM
LOVE. I always buy solid dresses, but this little number could change my ways! Neutral, not a traditional little black dress… so fun!  (This dress is SO my sister, its ridonkulous! She would totally rock this!)

5.

Fullscreen capture 232011 25653 PM
Oh, love. Love, love, LOVE!!! HOW perfect is this for a spring event?? But you could still wear this in the winter with a cardigan.

6.

Fullscreen capture 232011 31123 PM
I love this dress so much that I bought it last week at the Boden Warehouse sale! (For only $15. SCORE!) Perfect with tights and my brown boots!

7.

Fullscreen capture 232011 31603 PM
This dress reminds me a little of Kate Middleton’s engagement dress. So pretty! And on a super sale too!

Fashion Friday: snow day edition

I kid you not. If we have one more snow day….. There is a limit to the amount of time I can stay snowed into the house with three kids and I reached it at around 11 o’clock yesterday morning.

But speaking of piles of snow, I have come to the realization that I own no snow boots. I’ve been shoveling in my super old pair of fuggs from Target and I’ve realized I need something a little heartier, since apparently Philly is the new snow capital of the US.

I don’t ski or anything, so I don’t need anything too hardcore. My winter outdoor activities include cleaning off my car, shoveling the driveway and occasionally sledding in my backyard.

So let’s look for some winter boots!

These Keens are amazing, but pricey:
9755-640456-d

Maybe these are more practical and half the price (but not nearly as cute)

OHMYWORD THESE ARE AMAZING!!
Pl683833-01vliv01

I really like these by Timberland! A great twist on the classic duck boot!

Did you know Crocs made winter boots? These are totally gorgeous!!
11089_side_22Z

Or what about just some rain boots that I can wear with really fuzzy, warm socks?
