well, here goes….

Contractions started around 6:30pm and by 9:00 they were 5 minutes apart, although not painful. After 3 or 4 false starts, I was not going to get my hopes up. I called the doctor around 11 when they were about 3-4 minutes apart and starting to get very uncomfortable, and we’re going in to the hospital! Husband is driving the kids to a friend’s house, then we’re going to head over to get checked.

I’m praying that its not fake labor, cause I’ll be really annoyed 😉  I’ll send you all an update when I can!

Pray for us!

Look what Misty gave me:
smileaward.jpgWith this sweet award comes an original Meme.

1. What is something you have learned in the last 6 months?
That sometimes you need to ask people for help. And that’s okay. That sometimes you need to take care of yourself, let your house get messy and let your kids watch way too much tv. And its all okay.
2. Name the last food you tried for the very first time. Did you like it?
I don’t remember! I wish I could share something really cool and interesting, but lately our ‘new’ foods consists of trying a different brand of chicken nuggets.
3. If money, time, responsibilities, and obligations were not considerations what would your life look like right this minute?
I would be at the hospital having this baby.
Oh, besides that? I would be living on the beach. I would have time for myself to do those things that often get swept aside by responsibilities.  I would have lots of time to spend with my family. I would have the time and money to expand my business.
4. Working within your limitations what things could you do to create some of the feelings you would expect to have if you were living your dream life?
Humm… once I have the baby, I’ll be able to start working on my business again which I’m looking forward to. And I hope that I’ll be still taking time for myself even with a new baby.
5. Is there a current goal on which you are working?
Having this baby as soon as possible. Then losing the 30+ pounds of baby weight.
6. What is one thing you could get up and do right this minute to put you closer to your goal?
If you know of anything that will get this baby out of me, please – please – let me know. Call collect.
7. Is there something stopping you from doing that one thing right this second?
Yes. When I have this baby is entirely out of my control and that drives me crazy!!!!

And now I need to pass on this green & yellow square of bliss & sunshine to five blogs who brighten my daily world and make me smile! There are so many…
DCRmom at Musings of a Housewife
Stie at A Few of My Favorite Things
Jenny at Chased by Children
Ann at Life is Short. Partake in Happy Hour!
and my brother, who almost never blogs, but when he does its always funny.

did you know one of my secret loves?

Its Star Wars. Seriously. It goes back to childhood, watching these movies over and over and over with my brother. Flying in spaceships and fighting with light sabers.

So fun.

Anyway, if you also are a closet fan or even if you’ve just seen it at some point in your life, you must watch  this awesome “low-budget Star Wars” video. It is extremely impressive, not to mention hilarious!!! I find the soundtrack to be particularly funny.

just how different are my kids?

We are enjoying our annual ant infestation. (Joy!)

Ellie sees an ant and says “I’m Mommy’s big helper. I’m ‘The Ant Killer’. Smoosh. Smoosh.” as she squishes ants with her fingers.

Grace sees an ant and yells “BUG!!!!” as she runs screaming from the room, refusing to go back in until I have killed all the bugs.

pregnant crazy thoughts. enjoy.

Boys.
My brother even called me to find out how my husband convinced me to buy a new tv. He wanted exact wording, apparently hoping to use the same arguments on his girlfriend. Although, seeing as he is a poor grad student who doesn’t even have cable, I believe my helpful advise was:  “Good luck with that.”
He also keeps calling me to remind me the proper spelling of his name and all possible nicknames, since we will of course be naming the baby after him. What other names could we possibly consider? (None of my family who reads this blog is remotely surprised by this campaign.)

After being on bed rest and getting meals delivered to our door every other day by the wonderful ladies in my Bible Study, I am cooking again! I love to cook. And since I have been doing little except watching the Food Network  while laying on the couch, I am so excited to be in the kitchen.
I’m sad, though, since we don’t have any Easter plans this year. We can’t invite anyone over, since we may not be here, and we haven’t made any other plans. I love cooking big holiday meals. Maybe we can have a delayed celebration after the baby comes…..

So, I’ve been told I’m pretty irritable lately.
I don’t see it.
Frankly, I think I’m being downright pleasant, knowing all the times I have been holding back what I really want to say. But, my picky family seems to think otherwise. My kids keep telling Daddy that “Mommy is grumpy.” And my husband has said something along the lines of “Boy, will I be glad when this is over!” To which I said something totally non-irritable like “YOU can’t wait until this is over? Did I miss the part where you were 9 months pregnant?” And he said something like “No, but I have to live with a 9-months-pregnant crazy person.”
And he’s still alive. Do you see how incredibly non-irritable I am? Whatever, Dude.

Went to the doctor again today. He said baby could come any time, but it would probably be another week. A week!! What the frick?!? Wasn’t I laying on the couch for three weeks  to keep this baby from coming out? And now that he’s allowed to, he decides to stay in longer? Excuse me??
This kid is going to be trouble. I can tell.

my inspired post of the day

I’m here.
Exhausted.
Not feeling too hot.
Ready to have this baby because pregnancy has ceased being ‘wonderful and miraculous’ and moved on to ‘uncomfortable and annoying.’
Wondering how to entertain my kids during spring break this week.
Thanking my lucky stars that Ellie and I seem to have escaped the stomach bug.
See? I found the silver lining 😉

my husband is in heaven

Today he bought it. The new tv. The purchase he has been researching for about 2 months. Calling all sorts of stores, discussing at length with his coworkers at lunch. He decided what he wanted what would be the best fit for our family. Because this is a family purchase. For the family.

I went with him to the Sony store. (Because if you think I’d let husband go to the Sony store, having permission to purchase something, without me, then you clearly aren’t familiar with husbands.) And we came home with the most ridiculously humongous box housing our new tv. Lets just say good thing we took the minivan. It has been miraculously installed by husband, who summoned superhuman strength to carry it into the house all by himself. (And he made fun of me while I was nesting!)

So now we have a massive* tv. Which, after we all watched Ratatouille on it, I have to admit is a pretty stinking amazing tv. Although if it was a single inch bigger, it would probably not fit in our house. And, I am very impressed that he got a totally amazing deal. It was even $200 less than it was when he called the store yesterday. This was a clear sign from God that we needed this tv, according to Husband. Then we scored an amazing deal ($60 off!) on a dvd/vcr player to use with our old tv! Hooray for living near a Sony outlet!

*Our old tv was 24 inches. So by “massive” I mean massive to us. We’re not talking a movie screen here.
