"Come to me,
all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:26-28
can you guess colin’s new favorite activity?
apparently eye rolling isn’t just inherited behavior
Ellie: "Mom, will you teach me how to roll my eyes?"
Me: "Why?"
Ellie: "What if I want to roll my eyes? I can't! Look." tries to roll eyes, just looks up
Me: "I'm pretty sure you'll figure it out soon enough."
how thirty minutes can actually last more than two hours
This week, I learned that signing up for a half-hour swim lesson actually takes more than two hours.
3:00-3:15 – put bathing suits on, braid hair, put on sweats over swimsuits, argue with children that 17 degree temperature means one cannot go outside wearing just a bathing suit, pack bag with towels and other stuff.
3:15-3:25 – wake up Colin, change his diaper and nurse him
3:25-3:35 – put on coats, hats, shoes, argue why one must wear a coat when its 17 degrees, load children into car.
3:35-3:50 – drive to YMCA.
3:50-4:00 – Find pool, get kids sweats, shoes, hats and coats off, find spot on bleachers to watch swim lessons.
4:00-4:30 – watch swim lessons, get climbed over all squirming Colin.
4:30-4:45 – Get freezing, shivering Grace out of her swimsuit and into her sweats, settle back on bleachers to watch Ellie's class finish.
4:45-5:00 – wait for changing room, wait for changing room, wait for changing room, wait for changing room, give up and look for regular bathroom, change Ellie into her sweats, walk back to exit.
5:00-5:05 – put on coats and hats, argue why when its 17 degrees out one needs to wear a hat when one's hair is wet.
5:05-5:25 – drive home from YMCA in rush hour traffic.

Not to us, O LORD, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
