owl banding

Remember when we went bird banding last month? This month they had a special evening of owl banding for the kids! WOOT if you absolutely love baby owls!!

I want a pet owl now…..

The girls report that the owls are softest thing you’ve ever felt – even softer than their cats! But watch out, they bite!

This is such an amazing program -the “Discover the Forest’s Get Your Community Outdoors! Challenge, presented by the U.S. Forest Service, The Wilderness Society and the Ad Council is looking for ideas on how you can inspire your friends and neighbors to escape their stress and discover the great outdoors. One Grand Prize Winner will receive $1,000 to bring their idea to life as well as a $500 Frontier Airlines voucher to escape to the forest of their choice for a vacation. How amazing is that??

My idea is to give to sponsor field trips for children to go witness bird banding, learn about birds and learn what they can do to protect their habitats.

What is your idea to get your community outdoors?  Go enter it!

I wish I had known about this! My Hubby absolutely loves owls! He has been telling me forever he wants one, I veto that decision. You always get involved in the best stuff!!

    Hi Melissa,

Your blog is really nice, I love the owls you banded, do you need any mist nets for owl? We supply mist nets for the Europe bird banders for many years. The same quality as Avinet with much lower price

If you ever get a chance to touch a manta ray or sting ray (in touch tanks at an aquarium is safe), do it. They are the softest creature that I’ve ever felt. But I haven’t touched a baby owl.

We actually got to go swimming with sting rays in Jamaica! They were really really soft. But I was a little scared… it was a REALLY REALLY big sting ray!!!
